Could Your Schedule Be Stressing You Out?
Mar 06, 2019
Think about your busy day-to-day life for just one moment. There are a lot of things that happen that can easily start to stress you out. That moment in the morning when you sit down and open your planner to see how much you truly have to do that day can be entirely overwhelming, not to mention downright stressful. While our schedules are typically the true reason that we start to feel those emotions start to creep in, there are ways to help combat that stress before it sets up shop in your mind. If you're needing to find a few ways to alleviate the stressful situations that are overtaking the precious real estate in your brain, here are a few tips to help you stay calm.
Simple Tips to Overcome Stress and Other Feelings of Anxiousness
- Dabble in the world of exercise. While sprinting a marathon may not be something that is at the top of your priority list, it doesn't have to be something as extreme as that either! A simple walk around your neighborhood or office does an amazing job at helping to relieve a bit of that pent-up stress and frustration that you may be feeling. Take 10 minutes out of your lunch break each and every day and go for a quick hike around the block. You'll be amazed at how refreshed and relaxed you can feel!
- Try cutting back a bit on your caffeine intake. I get it...trust me. Caffeine is wonderful and is often the motivator that helps us start to adult in the morning. But sometimes, that caffeine can be a bit too strong and can actually cause the jitters, making us feel and seem a lot more anxious and stressed than we care to be. Take baby steps with this one and see if cutting back on your caffeine helps a bit with those other negative emotions.
- Give yourself a bedtime. If you haven't had a bedtime since you were 10 years old, maybe it's time to try giving it a go again. Your body is like a machine. And for that machine to function, that machine needs rest, refuel, and have healthy things being added to it. While you may feel like you can go on forever in a super fast-paced environment, your body and mind will eventually start to show the effects. Try for a solid 8 hours of sleep and see how you feel. You may not notice the changes overnight, but after a few weeks of this newly formed habit, you should start to see a difference.
- Laugh it off. Let's face it...sometimes, all we need is just a night out and a good laugh. And while that may not be the answer that can solve everything, it's a great way to help relieve some of that stress and feelings of anxiety that may be plaguing you a bit. After all, we're all familiar with the saying that "Laughter is the best medicine", right? Why not give yourself a daily dose and see how it changes your feelings and outlook on the stressful aspects of your life?
It is absolutely possible that your daily schedule can very well be stressing you out. It's normal to have those feelings pop up when starting and working through your day-to-day. The difference is what you do to help relieve those feelings of stress that creep up and rear their head. Try a few of the suggestions above and see if any of them can help you combat those feelings of stress and anxiousness. You may be amazed at how a few simple changes can really help to change your overall thoughts, feelings, and emotions.
